Study on the Influence of rhubarb on Excessive heat syndrome rats model Speciality:Chinese material medica Author : HuiLi-Si Tutor : Prof. Shaohua-Zhang Abstract Objective:To observe the effect of Chinese medicine rhubarb and the chloroform extract of rhubarb on general condition ,on signs of cold and heat and on Energy metabolism in Excessive heat syndrome model rats, and to analyse the tendency, speciality and rule of these effects, to explore the rules and mechanisms. By doing these, we can provide data reference for clinical medication。 Method:make Excessive heat syndrome model by subcutaneous 2,4 – dinitrophenol to Wistar rats. Decoction of rhubarb and The chloroform extract of rhubarb were given for treatment, The effects on temperature and cold and heat preference in Excessive heat syndrome model rats were observed.Fasting blood sugar, hepatic glycogen, LD levels, pyruvate and triglycerides were measured. The activities of hepatic ATPase, LDH and SDH in liver were analyzed using measuring kit respectively. T , T , TSH, TRH in blood serum were analyzed 3 4 using Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The EC and the content of ATP in liver were dected using HPLC. Results:Comparied with the rats of model control group, rhubarb can significantly reduce the tempeture of excessive heat rat; reduce the content of lactate, pyruvate, triglyceride in plasma and thyroid hormone levels; reduce the content of glycogen, lactic, pyruvic in liver tissue ; the activity of ATPase, LDH and SDH in liver was increased;and the EC in liver increased.
