Meanwhile, the researches concerning English teaching and learning have been developing vigorously. However, the researches on English teacher education, which is called the “mother machine” of English education, were started and developed relatively late. The researches on foreign language teacher education were first carried out in 1990s abroad, while in China, the researches on English teacher education were started in 2000s. Up to now, a large number of scholars and teacher educators both at home and abroad have contributed to English (foreign language) teacher education research from various perspectives such as the current situation, the curriculum design, teachers’ quality training, etc. In the research area of English teacher education, pre-service primary English teacher education is an important constituent part.
