Abstract Ningbo is a typical city with an export—oriented economy．The rapid deveiopment of foreign trade has greatly supported its fast growth of economy．However，behind the rapid growth of volume，Ningbo’s foreign trade has many worries．With economic globalization and China’s WTO entry how to solve current problems and to real ize the constant development of foreign trade has been put on the agenda of Ningbo，a big foreign trade city．On the basis of an analysis of current conditions of Ningbo’s foreign trade，the author puts forward several relevant measures and suggestions． The first chapter giyes a brief introduction to economic globalization，points out the importance of the development of foreign trade by narrating the relationship between international trade and economic growth，and further analyzes opportunities and challenges to China’s foreign trade brought by an irreversible tendency，that is， economic globalization．The second chapter expounds the dominant role of foreign trade in Ningbo’s economy and favorable conditions of the development of foreign trade in Ningbo．Also，based on lots of data and examples，an analysis is made on current condi tions and existing problems of Ningbo’s foreign trade．The third chapter puts forward several measures and sugges t i ons for Ni ngbo’s fore i gn trade under the background of economic global ization，such as，how to seek export strategies of textiles and garments in the after～quota era，maki ng use of international industry transfer so as to greatly develop and to upgrade processing trade， actively creating autonomous brands and facing trade barriers， Key words： economic global ization． Ningbo’s foreign trade added value of exports，trade barriers 经济全球化进程中宁波外贸业发展初探 闩u舌 经济全球化己成为一种不可逆转的历史趋势，加入世贸组织则使中国进一步 融入了这一潮流。对外贸易作为经济增长的发动机，自改革开放以来就有力地带 动了中国经济的快速增长。入世意味着中国的对外贸易将受到全球多边贸易体制 框架的规范，从而使中国对外贸易的发展面临着前所未有的机遇和挑战。 宁波作为外贸依存度较高的外向型经济城市，对外贸易对经济增长的带动作 用不言而喻。优越的地理条件和浓厚的商业文化传统，使宁波的外贸业在改革开 放后蓬勃发展，多项外贸指标位居全国前列，外贸业的快速发展有力的支撑了宁 波经济的强劲增长。但迄今为止，宁波仍属
