Under the surroundings of promoting financial agglomeration, Jinan, as the provincial capital, clearly puts forward the financial aims in the 12th-five-year plan. Via improving the level of financial agglomeration and developing finance as the primary industry, Jinan will finally be the influential Yellow River region financial center based in Shandong province and radiation of surrounding provinces. On the basis of connotation and characteristic of financial agglomeration from traditional financial agglomeration theories, this paper not only conducted qualitative analysis of the existing shortcomings of Jinan financial development, but verified the defects of Jinan financial agglomeration through location entropy and spatial Gini coefficient. Then, we provided SWOT comprehensive analysis on the advantages and disadvantage, the opportunities and challenges of Jinan’s financial agglomeration in the future development. This paper also in detail analyzed two typical financial agglomeration areas of financial street in Xicheng district in Beijing and Lujiazui finance and trade zone in Shanghai to provide the reference for Jinan.
