Abstract Regional economic disparity is a core question of the regional economics，which is a global problem that puzzling all of the countries in the world for their lopsided development．Regional disparity is the consequence of market economy,with the market economic institution being established gradually in China,the largest undeveloped countries in the world，regional disparity in China has got more and more severe．That will inevitably baffle the advancement of market reforming and the coordinated development of regional economics in China．Lying in the western China，Gansu province also has the problem of regional disparity inside with the advancement of market reforming as like the country,and that makes the economic development level of Gansu dropping behind the national average level．There has important theoretical significance and magnificent practical significance in the studying of the regional disparity in Gansu province not only for accelerating the economic development of Gansu province but also for the successful implement of the western development strategy in China． Based on summarizing abundance of research literatures home and abroad，taking 86 counties(cities and sections)of Gansu province as the objects，selecting 18 indexes， using SPSS software and approaches of Cluster Analysis and Principal Component Analysis，This thesis carries out an empirical analyzing and synthesized evaluation on the regional disparity of the economic development level of the counties(cities and sections) in Gansu．The major findings including：①the 86 counties(cities and sections)of Gansu could be classified into 4 kinds，i．e．developed；more developed；middling；under developed．(甄he regional disparity of Gansu takes on the following characters．county level economic disparity in Gansu is notable，which takes appearance of higher in the north—west and lower in the south—east；disparity ofpolarization and pole—axis character is distinct；the economic development level of the large and mi
