Unit 13 integrated skill Teaching objectives: Knowledge aim: Knowing reason of why should we integrate the four skills. How to integrate the four skills. Knowing the implications for teaching. Knowing the limitations of integrating the four skills. Ability aim: As a teacher, we can integrate the four skills naturally and proficiently in class. Emotional aim: Keep this part’s knowledge in mind and make full use of it. Teaching focus: How can we integrate the four skills? Difficult points: What are the implications for teaching? Teaching aids: The multi-media, the blackboard, and the text book. Teaching procedures: Step 1. Teaching why should we integrate the four skills. Illustrate the four skills by asking a student questions in different circumstance? Doing task 1 in page228 and page229 to make more clear definition about integrated skills Teach about the conditions for language learning. Make the final conclusion. Step 2. Teaching how can we integrate the four skills. 1. The meaning of simple integration and complex integration. 2. Show the examples to the students help them understand better. 3. Reading the passage and complete the fill-in-the-blanks. 4. Working as a group, use the outline as guide for designing suitable contents for the first two activities. then share the ideas with other groups. Step 3. Teaching what are the implications for teaching. 1. Let students clear that integrating the four skills is concerned with discourse level and what are the discourse features. 2. By an example let students figure out the discourse features. 3. Illustrate the necessity and importance. 4. Explaining that adjusting the timetable. Step 4. Teaching the limitations of integrating the four skills. Give the questions that “what do you see as the main benefits and limitations of integrating the four skills?”Let students discuss it in groups. 2. Call students to give their answer. 3. The teacher assesses their answer. 4. Give the right answer. Step 5: Conclusion
