Abstract In recent years，rapid urbanization involves fateful consequences on land radical expansion，which lead to the agricultural production land，mountain land，forest land， water area and other natural ecological land continuously being occupied． Meanwhile，ecological space，leisure space and public space for activities in city is under growing pressure to be compressed．The urban open space is an significant recreation system，which has multi—function like entertainment，science，education， culture and arts，fitness to ecological environment and SO on,and its scientific and reasonable layout is regarded as one of the most important symbol to measure the level and quality of the modem settlement environment．Therefore，it is important to make clear the scale，layout planning，classification，evaluation of the urban open space system．And the study of open space has been the focus of scholars at home and abroad． Based on making clear urban open space connotation and researching object in this article，research stage，the main research aspects and the theory about urban open space are reviewed．The characteristics，shortcomings and inspirations of urban open space study are summarized．As the example of Shenzhen and Fuzhou urban open space construction，this paper elaborated the development situation and the existing problems of Our country open space and the necessity and the significance of the maturity evaluation about the urban open space． This paper seeks to integrate city planning，public management，landscape ecology,urban and suburban theoretical knowledge，through drawing lessons from the domestic and foreign research results，put forward to plan as a whole city open space development，construction of area of city open space system point of view,the planning area of city open space system，focus on the integration of the planning area and comb in the city,construction land outside the city,and the close combination of a variety of system of open space network．According to the classi
