To grasp the meaning of the key words , phrases and sentences Words：present ,winner, central, instrument, common, object, stone, musician, control, traditional, bell, though Phrases: present sth. with/to sb. /show an interest in sth/ get to know sb/ be known for/ the sounds of nature/ in a Western style /dividing line /used to do sth Sentences: ①When he was very young, Tan showed an interest in music. ②Since he had no musical instruments then, he made music with common objects like stones and paper. ③He is best known for winning an Oscar for his music in the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. 2．To learn about Tan dun’s experience and his works and learn about the biographical styles. 3．To develop students’ right attitude to life. 二. Lead in ①Ask the students to listen to the song of the 2008 Olympic Games. Let students know the writer of the song. ②Show some pictures about Tan Dun and introduce him. 谭盾， 著名音乐家、作曲家，1958年出生于湖南长沙。1978年，谭盾考入位于北京的中央音乐学院作曲系并取得作曲硕士学位。1986年获美国哥伦比亚大学奖学金，赴美留学，后获得音乐艺术博士学位。他的著名作品包括：以自制乐器演奏的作品《九歌》、为音乐界著名的“克罗诺斯弦乐四重奏”而写的《鬼戏》、《交响乐1997——天地人》、《马可?波罗》、《水》等。其中作品《水》十分特别，演出时台上全是水，水即独奏乐器。谭盾为此专门做了五十多种有关水的装置，以便让水发出各种不同的声音。2008年谭盾为北京奥运会创作了颁奖音乐。 设计意图：展现相关背景知识，激发学生求知欲望 Step 2.
