【课文分析】
本课的教学内容是《牛津高中英语》模块三,第三单元的阅读课文---Lost civilizations。本课主要是关于一名加拿大学生记叙的在意大利的庞贝和中国的楼兰两地的旅行见闻及感受。而本课却又采取日记的形式,自然给读者一种身临其境的感觉,进而让读者更好的了解我们的失落的文明及其原因。.学生在教师的引导下,通过阅读文章标题、副标题、首段以及每段的首句,初步掌握预测文章大意的阅读策略。
(Students will be able to predict the theme or the topic of an article, with the help of headlines, subtitles , the first paragraph and the first sentence of each paragraph.)
2. 通过精读文章,提高学生获知具体信息的速度和能力,同时了解旅行日记类文章的特点,有针对性地读文章。
To improve students’ reading comprehension to get detailed information. To help the Ss develop the ability of reading diary entries..
3. 通过小组讨论,培养学生对待保护文化古迹的正确态度及看法。To make the Ss learn more about civilizations and to arouse their sense of protecting civilizations.)

【教学过程】
StepⅠ Lead-in
1. Talk about the customs of Qingming festival, and share with the students what I and my family did during that time—go spring outing in wuhu. Then talk about the unique picks and the cause—volcano eruption.
2. Talk about volcanoes, which can sometimes make beautiful scenery, sometimes cause great damage and still sometime destroy a whole city. Then introduce something about the city of Pompeii.
3. What does the title Lost Civilizations mean?
Lost civilizations means ancient buildings, cultures and countries that no longer exist.
Step Ⅱ Fast-reading
Ask the Ss to read the passage quickly, paying special attention to the first paragraph , and the first sentence of each paragraph and then answer some questions and also match each diary entry’s main idea.
1. Which city do they visit?
2. What is the text made up of?
3.How many days do they stay there?
4. What is one main similarity between the two cities?
