It is hard to imagine learning to do science, or learning about science, without doing laboratory or fieldwork. The main aim of introducing a lab schedule in regular teaching is to develop an understanding for concepts taught in the class lecture, by performing the experiments and self elucidation of the results by this exercise the subject appears to be more real as the students self experiences the concepts experimentally. This helps in developing the observational and manipulative skills of the students resulting in a better understanding of theory. Foundations of Physics Lab is taught as a companion to the Foundations of Physics sequence which covers the topics of mechanics, fluids, electricity magnetism, waves and topics in modern physics. Course Learning Goals Develop a better conceptual understanding of physical phenomenon through lab experimentation. Gain initial experience with scientific method of observation, hypothesis construction, experimentation, and hypothesis refinement.
