Teaching objectives: (1) Knowledge: a: New words and expressions: history, geography, etc (subjects); half, past, etc (time expressions); difficult, interesting. b: New grammatical structure: Do … + like / have ? ; I love …, I’m good at it / because it’s … . (2) Abilities: a: Listening skills: Listen for details. b: Speaking skills: Use structures “o’clock / past / half past / to”to express the time; use the structure “(Do) have” to raise questions; use key words and expressions “love”, “(be) good at”, “have”, “be difficult for”, “interesting” to describe their subjects or express feelings about those subjects. (3) Emotion: Raise their interest of learning their subjects. 2. Teaching emphasis: (1) Train the skills of listening for details. (2) Structures “What time is it?”,”Do … have …?”,”I love … and I’m good at it!”,”…, because it’s difficult/interesting.”. 3. Teaching difficulties: Understand“(Do) have” and “have” structures and use them as well as the key words “difficult” and “interesting” to express or describe their subjects. 4. Teaching aids: An OHP, a computer, a clock, a loudspeaker, and a reading pen. Teaching procedure What the teacher will be doing? What the students will be/may be doing? Step 1: Lead-in. (3 mins) 1. Say: I’m very happy to have English lesson with you! English is an important subject. Ask the Ss “Do you think so? I love English. Do you love English?” 2. Say: English is my favourite subject. Ask the Ss “What’s your favourite subject?” And write down the subjects they say on the Bb (as a Brain-storming by using a WORD-MAP). (2-2. if the Ss can’t say the word, especially it is needed Say “I love … .” and write the word down on the Bb and add it to the WORD-MAP.) 3.
