PASIR PANJANG TERMINAL PHASES 3 4 DEVELOPMENT DIALOGUE WITH PASIR PANJANG PRIVATE ESTATE ASSOCIATION THURSDAY, 28th JANUARY 2010, 8.00PM TELOK BLANGAH COMMUNITY CLUB CONFERENCE ROOM Present: Please see list attached 1 Introduction 1.1 The meeting commenced at 8.15 p.m. with the introduction of the representatives from MPA, NParks, URA, NEA and Surbana International Consultants (SIC) to the Pasir Panjang Private Estate Association (PPPEA) 2.0 Updates of PPT works 2.1 Mr James Lam (SIC) gave a presentation on the construction work progress comprising land and marine works. The land works involved the taking over of warehouses in phases and, the subsequent services diversion and demolition of those warehouses to clear the land for future development. Real-time noise monitoring was carried out at various locations and the data were submitted to NEA. The noise levels during construction works were in compliance with NEA’s guidelines. 2.2 The fabrication of caisson, a box-like structure, was in progress. There are two production lines housed in a temporary steel gantry tower. The caisson fabrication yard would be demolished and removed when caisson production is completed by end of 2010. 2.3 On marine works which formed the major part of the project, dredging of seabed, installation caissons, earth filling etc; were carried out. The materials used for the project were transported to the site by sea. 3.0 Updates by NParks Mr Lim Kian Huat (NParks) gave a presentation on the streetscape planting scheme along Pasir Panjang Road and West Coast highway. Photographs of existing tree/shrub plantings at the roadside and centre median were shown to PPPEA. Photographs of how the young trees would look like when fully grown were also shown. NParks highlighted green buffer along Pasir Panjang between Gate 3 and Pasir Panjang Distripark were recently planted with new trees (Eugenia oleina) to provide additional tree screening for the future new port.
