Today I am here to introduce the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans to you that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services developed and released in October 2008. /PAGuidelines/ /jpah-back-issues/jpah-volume-6-supplement-november * info@ * * Moderate amounts and intensities of PA result in significant health benefits. 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity activity, or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity, or a combination of both, pays off big in terms of health benefits. Lifestyle physical activity is an important alternative to more traditional fitness-center based exercise. Everyone is different; some people prefer a structured exercise program. But when you’re just starting out, in particular, lifestyle physical activity gets you moving without special equipment, and you can do it anywhere. People are more likely to become and stay active when taught appropriate lifestyle skills based on their readiness to change. Wonder why you start a new program, then are right back where you started six months later? You haven’t changed your behavior. This program teaches you how to change. * Explain which of these you offer, or take out the ones that don’t apply to you * * * Intervention: each group did receive 1 face to face counseling session and same core internet programs to submit weekly weights E-counseling additionally submitted calorie and exercise information and received weekly e-mail behavioral counseling and feedback from a counselor. * Counsellors had master’s and doctoral degrees in health education, nutrition, or psychology. Participants asked to submit daily diaries in 1st month and either daily or weekly afterward. 1st month counsellors emailed participants 5x / week. Weekly thereafter to provide feedback.
