FIRST ASIAN RECIPIENT OF THE VEGA MEDAL Yao Tandong, 63, an academic with the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, recently won the 2017 Vega Medal for his contributions to research on glaciers and the environment on the Tibetan Plateau.
