Thoughts on the design:
本节课是以听、说、读为主的课文阅读课。“The curse of the mummy”这个话题极具神秘性,容易激起高一学生的兴趣。首先,从课堂影片的导入,帮助学生迅速进入本课的主题,激起学生学习的热情。然后,创造良好的参与条件, 让学生通过预测、跳读、扫读、讨论等积极参与, 组织学生独立思考与集体讨论,以鼓励学生踊跃参与。再次,指导学生理解篇章结构,把握文章主旨来培养学生预测信息的能力以及理解归纳的能力。
Teaching aims and learning objectives:
By the end of the lesson, the students will have learned to:
1. have a good understanding of the text.
2. improve the reading ability..
3. develop their desire for exploring and the qualities of courage and cooperation.
Focus of the lesson:
1. The understanding of the text .
2. Learn some qualities from Howard Carter.

Teaching procedures:
Step 1:Lead-in
1. Present a part of the famous film “ Mummy” to get the students to have a vivid image of the mummy.
2. Ask the students to find out the mummy’s message (curse) in the film.
3. Explain the meaning of curse.
【设计说明】由于学生对木乃伊知之甚少,通过播放电影片断、开门见山导入本课主题,让学生从上课一开始就动起来,充分调动了学生的学习热情和兴趣,帮助学生迅速了解话题。
