EXPLORING THE REASONS AND IMPACTS OF “FOREIGN LANGUAGE CRAZE” IN CHINA 探索中国“外语热”的原因与影响 Abstract Since China’s adoption of the open-door and reform policy, the rapid development of China and its function of stimulation in world’s economy, especially after China joins WTO, Chinese people gradually realize the importance of foreign language as a communicative tool. More and more Chinese tend to learn foreign languages. It triggers “Foreign Language Craze” in the whole country in China. Learning foreign language is necessary. When learn it, we should pay more attention to the good master of native language (Chinese) firstly in order to make full use of foreign languages more efficiently and improve our abilities. The purpose of this paper is to explore the reasons and impacts of “Foreign Language Craze” in China. When it comes to reasons, the fundamental reasons are the value of language itself and the relationship between language and economy. The Chinese government relative policies, the changes happened in China and some important international activities all can attract Chinese’s interest. These impacts can help us get the benefits from foreign language, because foreign language is an essential tool for us to communicate with foreign countries. But when learning foreign languages, we shouldn’t forget our tongue language—Chinese and our own culture. Foreign language has the supplementary function. Through learning foreign language, we can improve our abilities and lead China to the front of the world. Keywords: China’s foreign language craze；reasons；impacts 摘 要 随着改革开放的步伐，中国的快速发展及其在世界经济中的活跃作用，尤其是自从中国加入世界贸易组织后发生的巨大变化，使得中国人越来越意识到外语这门工具的重要性。越来越多的中国人都趋向于学习外语，全国上下引发了一场“外语热”。学习外语是必要的，在学习外语的同时更要注意学好母语，这样就才能更有效地利用外语来提高我们自身的能力。 本篇论文的主要目的是探询中国“外语热”的原因与影响。谈及原因，语言本身的价值和语言与经济的关系是根本原因，中国国内的相关政策以及变化，国际上的一些活动都会引发人们对外语学习的兴趣。中国“外语热”有许多积极的影响，能让人们可以从中获益，外语是对外交流必不可少的工具；但是学习外语不要忘了自己的母语和文化，外语只能起一种辅助作用。通过学习外语更加完善自身的能力，引领中国走向世界前列。 关键词：中国外语热；外语热原因；外语热影响 Table of Contents 1.
