Shanghai Instritute of PhysicaI Education，Shanghai 200438，China） Abstract：NoninteIIectuaI mentaI factors are the externaI motivity for promoting peopIes’enthusiasm in their study，working and exercise training，which pIay an important roIe in the growth of a person. By appIying the CatteII 16PF（the 16 Person- aIity Factor Ouestionnaire，first identified by Dr. CatteII），an experiment was made in the students in Grade Two of physi- caI education speciaIty，compared with those of other speciaIties in coIIeges and universities. The resuIts show that the physicaI education and sport have their positive effects on the cuItivation of student’noninteIIectuaI mentaI factors，such as dominance，courageousness，perfectionism，emotionaI stabiIity，warmth，
