Methods: To analyze the clinical data of 73 cases of traumatic optic nerve neuropathy in our hospital during the period from June 2005 to June 2009. Results: Early diagnosis and comprehensive treatment is the key to recover the function of the optic nerve in the cases which are mostly accompanied with head trauma and fractures of nasal sinuses and bones. Conclusion: We should attach great importance to the optic nerve examination in the cases of orbital (especially the superciliary arch) injury. With definite diagnosis and operation indication, the traumatic optic neuropathy should undergo the decompression of optic nerve as early as possible.
