 PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 40 Human platelet alloantigen Research 【Abstract】 The human platelet alloantigens (human platelet alloantigens, HPA) is a platelet glycoprotein carrying a type-specific antigen, its gene has a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP). HPA can be mediated by the same kinds of antibodies produced, causing the same kinds of immune response, and post-transfusion thrombocytopenic purpura (PTP), platelet transfusion (PTR), neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenic purpura (NAITP) and transplant rejection closely related. Blood transfusion in clinical practice and its related diseases in the important role of the cause for concern. In this paper, the naming of HPA antigens, platelet glycoprotein polymorphisms, HPA detection methods, the same kinds of immune response mechanisms of platelet-related diseases, as well as research are reviewed. HPA can induce alloantibodies bringing about alloimmune response. They play important roles in post-transfusion refractoriness to platelets, post-transfusion thrombocytopenic purpura, fetomaternal alloimmune thrombocytopenia, and graft-versus-host disease. Because of their side effects in clinical blood-transfusion, there were a great deal of studies on HPA during last few decades. This review focuses on the nomenclature of HPA, the polymorphisms of platelet glycoproteins, HPA typing of the serological and molecular technology, as well as the mechanism of alloimmunization to HPA and correlated diseases.
