Neonatal parenteral nutrition-related risk factors of cholestasis
Author: Li Chang, Li Cuifang, Chun-Mei Yang
[Abstract] Objective To analyze critically ill neonates parenteral nutrition associated cholestasis (PNAC) risk factors. Method of receiving parenteral nutrition (PN) support more than 14 d of the 116 cases of neonatal clinical data were analyzed retrospectively analyzed risk factors for its occurrence PNAC. Results of 116 cases occurred in PNAC 31 cases (26.7%), analysis showed that gestational age, birth weight, PN duration, and infection are closely related with the PNAC and so on. Which PN duration was an independent risk factor for PNAC. Conclusion longer PN duration, the greater the risk of PNAC occurred early enteral feeding, shortening the time PN is an important measure to reduce the PNAC.

[Abstract] Objective To analyze the risk factors of parenteral nutrition associated cholestasis (PNAC) in high risk neonates. Methods A total of 116 cases who had accepted parenteral nutrition during the neonatal period for at least 14 days were included in this study. The risk factors of PNAC were analyzed. Results The incidence of PNAC was 26.7%. Gestational age, birth weight, persistence time in PN and infection were all closely correlated with PNAC.The pesistance time in PN was an independent risk factor of PNAC.Conclusion The longer the persistence time, the more risk of happening of PNAC.Early enteral feeding and shortening the time of PN are the important measures to lower the incidence of PNCA.
