Methods A total of 186 four week old BALB / cA nude mice were randomly divided into 5 groups of different rearing density (1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 mice per cage) and fed in M1 type cages. After 70 days, blood biochemical indices were measured in all groups. Results The biochemical parameters in middle density group (4 ~ 8 mice per cage) were similar to those in low density group (1 ~ 2 mice per cage), but different from those in high density group (16 mice per cage). Conclusion The rearing density may have some impact on the blood biochemical parameters in laboratory animals.
