The research progress of relationship between PAPP-A and coronary heart disease Abstract Background: Coronary heart disease （CHD ） has seriously harmed the human health. Recent researches show that inflammatory reaction plays a important role in the forming and development of atherosclerosis , with various inflammatory factors and macrophage. One of the inflammatory factor being studied hotly is PAPP-A(pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A). It is founded that PAPP-A has a significant role in VP(vulnerable plaque)forming and developing, and it is VP that directly induces ACS （acute coronary syndrome ）. So there are a lot of studies on the relationship between PAPP-A and ACS. Objective: Through studies on the structure and function of PAPP-A and IGF axis, we discuss the relationship between PAPP-A and atherosclerosis, and make further clinical researches on PAPP-A application value in diagnosis ，therapy and prognosis evaluation of CHD. Methods: Retrieve the literatures and summarize the progress in recent years relating to the structure and function of PAPP-A, the relationship between the level of PAPP-A and vulnerable plague and the relationship between the level of PAPP-A and CHD in Wanfang ,Weipu and Pubmed database. Results: PAPP-A is one member of metalloproteinase family, and can directly erode the plaque, inducing more thin-cap fibroatheromas and plaque ruptures; at the other side, PAPP-A enhances inflammatory reaction through IGF axis and indirectly decrease plaque stability.
