Having been kept in enslavement for 12 years by various masters, Northup was finally able to write to his friends and family in New York and consequently secured. This book is a faithful record of Northup ’s 12 years life as a slave with special literature significance. Northup gives a faithful and authentic description about the slave markets, the slave trade, the slave auctions,
