Observation of Short and medium-term Efficacy of Applying Wagner Self-locking Stem in Femoral Revision of Hips Major: Osteology Postgraduate: Zhang Quan Supervisor: Tian Xiaobin [Abstract] Objective: To evaluate short and medium-term efficacy of applying Wagner SL Stem in femoral revisions of hips and its and radiographic outcomes, so as to lay a clinical basis for choosing prosthesis for femoral revision of hips.. Methods: From May 2008 to August 2014 ，40 cases received the femoral revisions of hips with the Wagner SL Stem ，including 14 males and 26 females ．The mean age was 61 (ranging from 47 to 73 years old) ．The causes for revision before operation included: aseptic loosening in 37 cases, periprosthetic fractures in 1 case and infection in 2 case. All of 40 patients received femoral revision of unilateral hips. According to type classifications by Paprosky for bone component deficiencies, among 40 cases, 4 cases suffered Type I deficiencies; 25 cases suffered Type II deficiencies; 11 cases suffered Type IIIA deficiencies in hips. 40 cases receiving primary formal revisions of hips were respectively diagnosed as: avascular necrosis (10 cases), femoral neck fractures (15 cases), femoral intertrochanteric fractures (5 cases) and rheumatoid arthritis (10 cases); primary total hip arthroplasty (35 cases) and femoral head replacement (5 cases); cementless prosthesis (14 cases) and cement prosthesis (26 cases); complicated hypertension (14 cases), complicated hypertension and diabetes (10 cases) and complicated diabetes (8 cases) in terms of complications.
