The features of asthma are airway in?ammation, reversible air?ow obstruction, and an increased sensitivitytobronchoconstrictingagents,termedairwayhyperresponsiveness(AHR),excessproductionofTh2cytokines,and eosinophilaccumulationinthelungs.Toinvestigatetheantiasthmaticpotentialofhesperidinaswellastheunderlyingmechanism involved,westudiedtheinhibitorye?ectandanti-in?ammatorye?ectofhesperidin(HPN)ontheproductionofTh2cytokines, eotaxin,IL-17,-OVA-speci?cIgEinvivoasthmamodelmice.Methods.Inthispaper,BALB/cmiceweresystemicallysensitizedto ovalbumin(OVA)followedintratracheally,intraperitoneally,andbyaerosolallergenchallenges.Weinvestigatedthee?ectofHPN onairwayhyperresponsiveness,pulmonaryeosinophilicin?ltration,variousimmunecellphenotypes,Th2cytokineproduction andOVA-speci?cIgEproductioninamousemodelofasthma.Results.InBALB/cmice,wefoundthatHPN-treatedgroupshad suppressedeosinophilin?ltration,allergicairwayin?ammation,andAHR,andtheseoccurred bysuppressingtheproduction ofIL-5,IL-17,andOVA-speci?cIgE.Conclusions.OurdatasuggestthatthetherapeuticmechanismbywhichHPNe?ectively treatsasthmaisbase
