Pteleopsishylodendron(Combretaceae)isusedinCameroonandWestAfricafolkmedicineforthetreatmentofvariousmicrobial infections(measles,chickenpox,andsexuallytransmitteddiseases).Theantibacterialpropertiesofthemethanolicextractand fractions from stem bark ofPteleopsis hylodendron were tested againstthree Gram-positive bacteria andeight Gram-negative bacteriausingAgar-welldi?usionandBrothmicrodilutionmethods.Antioxidantactivitiesofthecrudeextractandfractionswere investigatedbyDPPHradicalscavengingactivityandβ-carotene-linoleicacidassays.Themethanolicextractandsomefractions exhibitedantibacterialactivitiesthatvariedbetween thebacterialspecies(ID=0.00–25.00mm;MIC =781–12500μg/mLand 0.24–1000μg/mL).Theactivityofthecrudeextractis,however,veryweakcomparedt
