Thisstudywasperformedtoisolateactinomycetecolonieshavingantibacterialactivityfromsoilsamplescollectedfromdi?erent placesaroundRajshahi,Bangladesh.Thirtyactinomycetecolonieswereisolatedinpureculturefrom?vesoilsamplesusingStarch- casein-nitrate-agarmedium.Theisolatesweregroupedin?vecolorseriesbasedontheiraerialmyceliacolorandscreenedfortheir antibacterialactivityagainstarangeoftestbacteria.Sixteenisolates(53.3%)werefoundtohavemoderatetohighactivityagainst fourgram-positiveandfourgram-negativebacteria.Sincemanyisolatesshowedinhibitoryactivityagainstindicatorbacteria,itis suggestivethatBangladeshisoilcouldbeaninterestingsourcetoexploreforantibacterialsecondarymetabolites. 1.Introduction Bangladesh,alow-lyingriverinecountry,hasatropical monsoon climate characterized by heavy seasonal rainfall, high temperatures, and high humidity.
