BodyMassIndex(BMI)isagoodindicatorformeasurementsofBoneMineralDensity(BMD)whichmeasuresthedensityof mineralspresentinthebonesusingaspecialscan.ThisstudywasconductedtoassesstheassociationbetweenBMIandstatusof BMDamong101individualswhounderwentDual-EnergyX-rayAbsorptiometry(DEXA)scan.39subjectshadnormaland62 hadlowbonemineraldensity.BMDwaslowin82.4%ofpeoplewithnormalBMI,78.1%amongoverweight,and44.2%among obese.Therewasastatisticallysigni?cantassociationbetweenthesetwovariables(P.001).LowBMDwasrecordedin59.1%of femalesand76.9%ofmales.AssociationbetweenadvancingageandlowerBMIisanimportantriskfactorintheoccurrenceof lowBMD. 1.Introduction as suggested by Eddy et al. [5] and National Osteoporosis Foundation[6]andBlacketal.[7].Studiesfromdi?erent authorsemphasizetheimportanceofexerciseonBMD.Chan et al. [8] and Loud et al.
