ThekeyobjectivesofRTRCABaretheidenti?cationofnewexoplanetsandespeciallythecharacterizationoftheknownexoplanets by observing photometric and systematic monitoring of their transits. These telescopes, equipped with advanced technology, optimizedcontrolprograms,andopticalandtechnicalcharacteristicsadequateforthispurpose,areidealtomaketheobservations that are required to carry out these programs. The achievement of these goals is ensured by the existence of three separated geographicalstations.Inthissense,thereareseveralplannedmissionsthathavethesameobjectivesamongtheirscienti?cgoals, likeKepler,CoRoT,GAIA,andPLATO. 1.Introduction 2.SciencewithRoboticTelescopes Robotic telescopes are new tools that are changing many aspectsofthewaywedoastronomy.Theuseofthistypeof telescopehasbeenquicklyadoptedinsomeofthemostpro- li?c?eldsofthisscience,includingsearchesforexoplanets, seeFigure1.Inthisparticular?eld,robotictelescopeshave demonstrated an e?ciency and agility that would hardly havebeenobtainedwithconventionaltelescopes.
