ASYMPTOTICANALYSISFORVANISHINGACCELERATION INATHERMOVISCOELASTICSYSTEM ELENABONETTIANDGIOVANNABONFANTI Received24April2004 Wehaveinvestigatedadynamicthermoviscoelastic system(2003),establishingexistence anduniquenessresultsforarelatedinitialandboundaryvaluesproblem.Theaimofthe presentpaperistostudytheasymptotic behavior ofthesolutiontotheaboveproblem as the power of the acceleration forces goes to zero.In particular, well-posedness and regularityresultsforthelimit(quasistatic)problemarerecovered. 1.Introduction Athree-dimensionalmodelforthermoviscoelasticphenomenaproposedbyFr′emondhas beeninvestigatedin[2]fromthepointofviewofexistenceanduniquenessofsolutions. Inthepresentpaper,weexaminetheasymptotic behaviorofthesolutiontothesystem consideredin[2],asthepoweroftheacceleration forcesvanishes.Aswearemainlyin- terestedintheanalyticalinvestigationofthemodel,wejustrecalltheevolutionequations andreferto[2,9],andthereferencestherein,foradetailedthermomechanical derivation andjusti?cation.
