Background.Theaimofthisworkistopresentanautomaticcolorectalpolypdetectionschemeforcapsuleendoscopy.Methods. PillCam COLON2 capsule-based images and videos were used in our study. The database consistsof full exam videos from ?vepatients.Thealgorithmisbasedontheassumptionthatthepolypsshowupasaprotrusioninthecapturedimagesandis expressedbymeansofaP-value,de?nedbygeometricalfeatures.Results.SeventeenPillCamCOLON2capsulevideosareincluded, containingframeswithpolyps,?atlesions,diverticula,bubbles,andtrashliquids.Polypslargerthan1cmexpressaP-valuehigher than2000,and80%ofthepolypsshowaP-valuehigherthan500.Diverticula,bubbles,trashliquids,and?atlesionswerecorrectly interpretedbythealgorithmasnonprotrudingimages.Conclusions.Thesepreliminaryresultssuggestthattheproposedgeometry- basedpolypdetection schemeworkswell, notonlybyallowingthedetection ofpolypsbutalsobydi?erentiatingthemfrom nonprotrudingimagesfoundinthe?lms. 1.Introduction Computer-aideddiagnosis, asinCTcolonography[8]
