We show that, under mild conditions, Aut?W is a semidirect product of InnW by the quotient Out?W  Aut?W/InnW.Wealsogivesu?cientconditions forthecompatibility ofthetwo semidirectproducts.Whenthisoccursthereisaninducedsplittingofthesequence1→InnW→ AutW→OutW→1andconsequently,allgroupextensions 1→W →G→Q→1aretrivial.
