Cognitiveradio(CR)isatechnologytoimplementopportunisticspectrumsharingtoimprovethespectrumutilization.However, thereexistsahidden-nodeproblem,whichcanbeabigchallengetosolveespeciallywhentheprimaryreceiverispassivelistening. Weaimtoprovideasolutiontothehidden-nodeproblemforpassive-listeningreceiverbasedoncooperationofmultipleCRs. Speci?cally, we consider a cooperative GPS-enabled cognitive network. Once the existence of PU is detected, a localization algorithmwillbeemployedto?rstestimatethepathlossmodelfortheenvironmentbasedonbackpropagationmethodand thentolocatethepositionofPU.Finally,adisableregionisidenti?edtakingintoaccountthecommunicationrangeofboththe PUandtheCR.TheCRswithinthedisabledregionareprohibitedtotransmitinordertoavoidinterferingwiththeprimary receiver.Bothanalysisandsimulationresultsareprovided. 1.Introduction withthePU,theymustavoidorcontroltheinterferenceto potentialPU.However,asaradiodevice,asingleCRmay su?ersevereshadowingormultipathfadingwithrespectto primarytransmittersothatitcannotdetecttheexistenceof primarytransmittereveninitsvicinities.Inaddition,there existsahidden-nodeproblem,inwhichaCRmaybetoofar fromthetransmittertodetecttheexistenceofthePU,but closetotheprimaryreceivertointerferewiththerec
