Pulsecropsareconsideredminoronaglobalscaledespitetheirnutritionalvalueforhumanconsumption.Therefore,theyare relativelylessextensivelystudiedincomparisonwiththemajorcrops.Theneedtoimprovepulsecropproductionandquality willincreasewiththeincreasingglobaldemandforfoodsecurityandpeople’sawarenessofnutritiousfood.Theimprovementof pulsecropswillrequirefullyutilizingalltheirgeneticresources.Bacterialarti?cialchromosome(BAC)librariesofpulsecropsare essentialgenomicresourcesthathavethepotentialtoaccelerategenediscoveryandenhancemolecularbreedinginthesecrops. Here,wereviewtheavailability,characteristics,applications,andpotentialapplicationsoftheBAClibrariesofpulsecrops. 1.Introduction o?ersgenome-widecoverageasallrepeattypesaresystem- aticallysampledintherandomlyselectedBACs[9]. “Pulsecrops”referstoagroupofmorethansixtydi?erent grain legumes grown around the world. Pulse crop seeds, whichareimportantforhumannutrition,typicallyhave20– 25%proteinand40–50%starch,arerichindietary?bre,and usuallyhaveonlysmallamountsofoil.Pulseproteinishigh in the amino acids lysine and methionine, making pulses nutritionallycomplementarytocereals,whicharede?cient inthesetwoessentialaminoacids.Despitetheimportance ofpulsecropsfornutritionandfoodsecurityindeveloping countries,theyareconsideredtobeminoronaglobalscale
