Thispaperdocumentsararenonprogressivedevelopmentaldisorder—bilateralcircumscribedposteriorkeratoconus—ina60- year-oldmanreferredforacataractsurgery.Forthe?rsttimeultrasoundbiomicroscopywasusedtovisualisethelocalanterior bulgingoftheposteriorcornealsurfacewithconcomitantthinningofthestroma.Theamountoflocalizedposteriordepression, cornealthicknessandtherefractivepowerofboththeposteriorandanteriorcornealcurvatureweremeasuredusingslit-scanning topographyanalysis(Orbscan). 1.Introduction 2.CaseReport The 60-year-old white male of Mediterranean origin pre- sentedforacataractextractiononhislefteye.Visualacuity was 20/25 in the right eye and light perception in the left eyeduetocataractformation.Therewasnoamblyopiain thelefteyebeforetheonsetofcataract.Thepatientdenied historyofinjury,reportingonlyabilateralocularinfectionin childhoodwasreported.Therewerenosystemicconditions.
