This isoftencrucial forphysical applica- tions,forinstance,instatisticalmechanicsorinquantum?eldtheory. Ithasbeenrealizedsometimeagothat -algebrasofboundedoperatorsarenotsu?- cientforsuchapplications, oneneedsalso -algebrasofunboundedoperatorsandeven -algebrasofoperators.Afull-?edgedtheoryofpartial -algebrashasbeendevel- oped,coveringbothabstractpartial -algebrasandtheiroperatorrealizations,forwhich ? -algebras, one of the cornerstones is the well-known ? ? ? partial ? ? ? werefertoourrecentmonograph[4].Therethereaderwill?ndhowtheGNSconstruc- tioncanbeperformedinthenewextendedframework. The crucial point is to replace positive linear forms by special sesquilinear forms (sometimes called invariant), in such away that one can bypass many of the di?cul- tiesduetothelackofanoneverywhere de?nedmultiplication andthenonassociativity ofthepartialmultiplication.Moreover,fortechnicalreasons,ithasbeenfoundnecessary tospecializefurtherthesesquilinear formsinquestion,thusintroducing theconceptof biweight [3].Biweightsonpartial ? -algebras indeedallowaGNSconstruction andthus permittodevelopfromtherearepresentation theoryforpartial ? -algebras.
