Inthispaper,webrie?ypresentworkinthe?eldsofsubliminalperceptionanda?ectivecomputing,beforeweoutlineanew approachtoaddanalogcommunicationchannelstothehuman-computerinteractionexperience.Inthisapproach,inaddition tosymbolicprede?nedmappingsofinputtooutput,asubliminalfeedbackloopisusedthatprovidesfeedbackinevolutionary subliminalsteps.Intwostudiesinvolvingconcentration-intensivegames,weinvestigatedtheimpactofthisapproach.Ina?rst studyevolutionaryfeedbackloopsadjustedtheuserinterfaceofamemorygamewhereasinthesecondstudythelightingofthe testroomwasadjusteddynamically.Theresultsshowthatinsettingswithanevolutionaryfeedbacklooptestparticipantswere abletoreachsigni?cantlyhigherscorescomparedtothestaticcounterparts.Finally,wediscusstheimpactthatsuchsubliminally workingapplicationsmighthaveontheuser’sacceptance. 1.Introduction Inthisregard,itisimportanttomakeadi?erentiation between the terms subliminal persuasion and subliminal perception[3].Scienti?cevidenceforsubliminalperception is well established [4–6] whereas scienti?c support for subliminalpersuasionisseencritically[3].
