ThecompositionanddistributionofthemainassociationsofsubmergedmacrobenthosofBah′?aM′alaga(Colombianpaci?c coast),werestudiedinrelationtothedistributionofhardandsoftsubstratesandsomeabioticfactors.Eightlocalitiesweresampled duringsixmonths:threeintheexternalborderoftheestuaryand?veintheinnerpart.Intotal,728organismswereregistered, belongingto207species,132genera,86families,and14ordersofsixinvertebrategroups(Porifera,Cnidaria,Polychaeta,Mollusca, Crustacea,andEchinodermata).Thesubmergedbottomspresentedsoftandhardsubstrates,withrocksandthicksandin?vesites, softbottomswith?nesandinone,andsoftbottomswithslimeandclayintwo.Thetemperatureandsalinityvalueswerehigher intheexternallocalities,whiledissolvedoxygenandpHwerehigherintheinternallocalities.Thelocalitieswithhardsubstrates presentedthehighestrichnessofspecieswhilethesoftsubstrates,werecharacterizedbyapaucityofspeciesandindividuals.The similarityclassi?cationanalysesshowedtwogroups:onecharacterizedbyhaving61speciesincommonandhighrichn
