While research has been carried out on bullying experienced by psychiatrists and psychiatry traineesinPakistannosuchresearchhasbeenconductedonmedicalstudentsinthiscountry. Methodology/PrincipalFindings:Weconductedacross-sectionalquestionnairesurveyonfinalyearmedicalstudentsinsix medicalcollegesofPakistan.Theresponseratewas63%.Fifty-twopercentofrespondentsreportedthattheyhadfaced bullying orharassment during theirmedical education,about 28%ofthemexperiencing itonceamonthor evenmore frequently. The overwhelming form of bullying hadbeen verbal abuse (57%), while consultants were themost frequent (46%)perpetrators.Studentswhowereslightlyolder,males,thosewhoreportedthattheirmedicalcollegedidnothavea policyonbullyingorharassment,andthosewhofeltthatadequatesupportwasnotinplaceattheirmedicalcollegefor bulliedindividuals,weresignificantlymorelikelytohaveexperiencedbullying. Conclusion:BullyingorharassmentisfacedbyquitealargeproportionofmedicalstudentsinPakistan.Themostfrequent perpetratorsofthisbullyingareconsultants.Adoptionofapolicyagainstbullyingandharassmentbymedicalcolleges,and providingavenuesofsupportforstudentswhohavebeenbulliedmayhelpreducethisphenomenon,asthepresenceof thesetwowasassociatedwithdecreasedlikelihoodofstudentsreportinghavingbeingbullied.
