Based on a simple assumptionthatanindividual’swelfareisproportionaltohowherpreferenceisfulfilledbytheactualdistribution,weshow thatanegalitarianpreferenceisastrictNashequilibriumandcanbefavorableevenincertaininhomogeneoussituations. Thesesuggesthowcommunicationcanencourageandsecureanotionoffairness.
