Methodology/PrincipalFindings:Tobetterunderstanditsecologicalanddemographicfeatures,wecombinedbehavioural (aggressiontests),chemical(quantitativeandqualitativeanalysesofcuticularlipids)andgenetic(mitochondrialdivergence and polymorphism of DNA microsatellite markers) data obtained for eight populations in Cameroon. Molecular data revealedtwocrypticspeciesofP.megacephala,oneinhabitingurbanareasandtheotherrainforests.Urbanpopulations belong tothe same phylogenetic groupthan thoseintroduced in Australia andin other parts of the world. Behavioural analysesshowthattheeightpopulationssampledmakeupfourmutuallyaggressivesupercolonies.Themaximumdistance between nests from the same supercolony was 49km and the closest distance between two nests belonging to two differentsupercolonieswas46m.Thegeneticdataandchemicalanalysesconfirmedthebehaviouraltestsasallofthenests were correctly assigned to their supercolony. Genetic diversity appears significantly greater in Africa than in introduced populationsinAustralia;bycontrast,urbanandAustralianpopulationsarecharacterizedbyahigherchemicaldiversitythan rainforestones. Conclusions/Significance:Overall,ourstudyshowsthatpopulationsofP.megacephalainCameroona
