MethodologyandPrincipalFindings:Well-characterisedtissuefromfivemesotheliomapatientsandnormalparietaland visceralpleuralsamplesfromsixnon-cancerpatientswereprofiledbyAffymetrixoligoarrayof38500genes.Thelistsof differentially expressed genes tested for overrepresentation in KEGG PATHWAYS (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes)andGO(geneontology)termsrevealedlargedifferencesofexpressionbetweenvisceralandparietalpleura,and bothtissuesdifferedfrommesothelioma.Cellgrowthandintrinsicresistanceintumourversusparietalpleurawasreflected inhighlyoverexpressedcellcycle,mitosis,replication,DNArepairandanti-apoptosisgenes.Severalgenesofthe‘‘sa
