Methodology/PrincipalFindings:Threegroupsweretraineddailyfor10sessionsonanauditory,avisualoracombined audiovisualtemporalorderjudgment(TOJ).Groupswerepre-testedonarangeTOJtaskswithinandbetweentheirgroup modalitypriortolearningsothattransferofanylearningfromthetrainedtaskcouldbemeasuredbypost-testingother tasks.RobustTOJlearning(reducedtemporalorderdiscriminationthresholds)occurredforallgroups,althoughauditory learning(dichotic500/2000Hztones)wasslightlyweakerthanvisuallearning(lateralisedgratingpatches).CrossmodalTOJs also displayed robust learning. Post-testing revealed that improvements in temporal resolution acquired during visual learningtransferredwithinmodalitytootherretinotopiclocationsandorientations,butnottoauditoryorcrossmodaltasks. Auditory learning did not transfer to visual or crossmodal tasks, and neither did it transfer within audition to another frequencypair.Inaninterestingasymmetry,crossmodallearning transferredtoallvisualtasksbutnottoauditorytasks. Finally,inallconditions,learningtomakeTOJsforstimulusonsetsdidnottransferatalltodiscriminatingtemporaloffsets. Thesedatapresentacomplexpictureoftimingprocesses. Conclusions/Significance:Thelackoftransferbetweenunimodalgroupsindicatesnocentralsupramodaltimingprocess forthistask;however,theaudiovisual-to-visualtransfercannotbeexplainedwithoutsomeformofsensoryinteraction.We proposethatauditorylearningoccurredinfrequency-tunedprocessesintheperiphery,precludi
