ReliabilityandValidityofSimplifiedChineseVersionof Roland-MorrisQuestionnaireinEvaluatingRuraland UrbanPatientswithLowBackPain HongleiYi1,2.,XinranJi1.,XianzhaoWei1.,ZiqiangChen1,XinhuiWang2,XiaodongZhu1,WeiZhang1, JiayuChen1,DiqingZhang1,MingLi1* 1DepartmentofOrthopaedicSurgery,TheAffiliatedChanghaiHospitaloftheSecondMilitaryMedicalUniversity,Shanghai,China,2No.89HospitalofPLA,Weifang, Shandong,China Abstract Objective:ThecausesoflowbackpaininChinaandWesterncountriesareextremelydifferent.Weattemptedtoanalyze theriskfactorsoflowbackpaininurbanandruralpatientsunderthedualeconomywiththesimplifiedChineseversionof Roland-Morrisdisabilityquestionnaire(SC-RMDQ)todemonstratethatSC-RMDQcouldevaluatepatientswithlowbackpain arisingfromdifferentcauses. Methods: Roland-Morris disability questionnaire was translated into SCRMDQ according to international guidelines for questionnaireadaptation.Inthisstudy,causesoflowbackpainof187outpatientsandinpatients(99urbanpatientsand88 ruralpatients)wereanalyzed.AllpatientsunderwentsimplifiedChineseversionofRoland-Morrisdisabilityquestionnaire (SC-RMDQ),simplifiedChineseOswestrydisabilityindex(SCODI)andvisualanaloguescale(VAS).Reliabilitywastestedusing reproducibility(intraclasscoefficientofcorrelation–ICC)andinternalconsistency(Cronbach’salpha).Validitywastested usingPearsoncorrelationanalysis. Results:Theleadingcausesforlowbackpainweresedentariness(38.4%)andvibration(18.1%)inurbanpatientsandwaist bending(48.9%)andspraining(25%)inruralpatients.Althoughcausesoflowbackpaininthetwogroupsofpopulation werecompletelydifferent,SCRMDQhadhighinternalconsistency(Cronbach’savalueof0.874inurbanpatientsand0.883 inruralpatients)andgoodreproducibility(ICCvalueof.952inurbanpatientsand0.949inruralpatients,P,0.01).SCRMDQ alsoshowedsignificantcorrelationwithSimplifiedChineseversionofOswestrydisabilityindex(SCODI)andvisualanalogue scale(VAS)inruralareas(SCRMDQ-SCODIr=0.841;SCRMDQ-VAS:r=0.685,P,0.01)andinurbanareas(SCRMDQ-SCODI: r=0.818,P,0.01;SCRMDQ–VAS:r=0.
