Methods:Quantitativerespiratorfittestswereperformedon29volunteersfromdifferentracial,genderandface sizegroups.Twofacialdimensionswidth(bizygomatic)andlength(menton-sellion)weremeasuredforall participants. Results:Inthisstudy13.8%oftheparticipantsdemonstratedasuccessfulfitwiththemediumsizedmask.These includedparticipantsfromthreedifferentracialandbothgendergroups.Thelargepercentageoffailedfittests (86%)indicatesthatrelianceonoff-the-shelfrespiratorscouldbeproblematicinSouthAfrica.
