Themethodisagraph-basedmethod,inwhichagraphconstructionmethodbasedonelectricfieldtheoryisappliedwhich specificallydealswithcomplexbranchingpatterns.Thevesselcenterlineimageisusedastheinitialsegmentationofthe graph.Branchingpointsaredetectedonthevesselcenterlineimageusingasetofdetectionkernels.Crossingpointsare distinguishedfrombranchpointsandexcluded.Theelectricfieldbasedgraphmethodisappliedtoconstructthegraph. Thismethodisinspiredbythenon-intersectingforcelinesinanelectricfield.Atlast,themethodisfurtherimprovedtogive aconsistentvesselwidthmeasurementforthewholevesseltree.Thealgorithmwasvalidatedon100arterybranchingsand 100 vein branchings selected from 50 fundus images by comparing with vessel width measurements from two human experts.
