Thesenseddataismappedtoascorewhichweadoptasauni?edmeasureoftherelative urgency of the data. The objective is to retrieve the data with the maximum score. We proposefullydistributedschemesforcontentionbasedmediumaccessanddatacombining. Theproposedmediumaccessschemeusesarandomizedback-offwhichiscontrolledbased onthescoreofthedatatobetransmitted.Datacombiningtechniquesareproposedtofurther suppressunnecessarytraf?candreducecontention. Thekeyobservationisthatoneshould aggressivelyprioritizepacketswithhighscore,uptoanextentthatdoesnotincurexcessive contentioninchannelaccess.Designedtocapturesuchaspect,theproposedschemeisshown tosubstantiallydecreasethelatencyoftheretrieval.
