Yet, genome annotation, comparison,andmodelingremainamajorbottlenecktothetranslationofsequenceinformationintobiologicalknowledge, hence computational analysis tools are continuously being developed for rapid genome annotation and interpretation. Amongtheearliest,mostcomprehensiveresourcesforprokaryoticgenomeanalysis,theSEEDproject,initiatedin2003as anintegrationofgenomicdataandanalysistools,nowcontains.5,000completegenomes,aconstantlyupdatedsetof curatedannotationsembodiedinalargeandgrowingcollectionofencodedsubsystems,aderivedsetofproteinfamilies, andhundredsofgenome-scalemetabolicmodels.Untilrecently,however,maintainingcurrentcopiesoftheSEEDcodeand dataatremotelocationshasbeenapressingissue.Toallowhigh-performanceremoteaccesstotheSEEDdatabase,we developedtheSEEDServers(/servers):fournetwork-basedserversintendedtoexpo
