Methods:ThedirectcontactofPCacorebiopsytonitrocellulosemembraneresultedinthereleaseofacellular micropeelthatwasusedfordownstreamanalyticalprocedures. Results:Byzymogramprint-phoresiswedemonstratedthatmatrixmetalloproteasesMMP-2andMMP-9couldbe visualizedinbiopsyprintsandthatthegelatinolyticactivitywaspositivelycorrelatedwithimmunohistochemistry analysisofthesamemarkersinmatchedbiopticspecimens.Moreover,wecomparedtheabilitytodetectthePCa- associatedhypermethylationofGSTP1promoterinDNAextractedfrombiopsyprintswiththoseofthe correspondingcoreneedlebiopsies.BiopsyprintsdemonstratedthesamespecificityofbiopsiesindetectingPCa (50%)whilethesensitivityandthepositivepredictivevaluewerelowerthanbiopsies(56%vs78%and63%vs 70%,respectively).
