Methods:TranslationoftheCAM-ICUwasdoneaccordingtotheguidelinessuggestedbytheTranslationand CulturalAdaptationGroup.ForvalidationandinterraterreliabilityassessmentoftheKoreanCAM-ICU,twonurses independentlyassesseddeliriuminICUpatientsandtheresultswerecomparedwiththereferenceevaluation, whichwasdonebyapsychiatristusingtheDiagnosticandStatisticalManualofMentalDisordersIV(DSM-IV). Results:Twenty-twopatientswereevaluatedbytwonursesandonepsychiatristexpertindependently.Duringthe studyperiod,wehavecontinuouslyeducatedstudynurses.BasedonDSM-IVcriteria,16outof22(72.7%)patients developeddelirium.Thesensitivitiesofthetwonurses’evaluationsusingtheKoreanCAM-ICUwere89.80%for nurse1and77.40%fornurse2.Theirspecificitieswere72.40%and75.80%andtheiroverallaccuracywas83.33% and88.37%respectively.TheKoreanCAM-ICUwasdonewithreasonableinterraterreliabilitybetweennurse1and nurse2(=0.81,p0.001). Conclusions:TheKoreanCAM-ICUshowedgoodvalidityandcouldbeincorporatedintoclinicalpracticein KoreanICUs. Trialregistration:ISRCTN:ISRCTBackground and longer hospital stay in ICU patients [5-7].
